Terms of Service

Using Follow Crab means agreeing to these. They are deliberately short โ€” there is no account to govern and no data of yours for us to hold.

Last updated

14 August 2026. First published version.

1. Who you are dealing with

Follow Crab โ€” the website at followcrab.com and the Follow Crab iPhone app โ€” is operated by Dmitry Logachev, an individual sole trader in California, United States. "We" and "us" below mean that person. Contact: support@followcrab.com.

2. What the tool does

Follow Crab reads the official data export that Instagram gives you and tells you things about it: how many followers and following you have, who does not follow you back, and โ€” by comparing two exports made at different times โ€” who unfollowed you and who is new.

It runs in your browser, or on your iPhone. It does not connect to Instagram, and it never asks for your Instagram login or password. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what it reads and what it never opens.

One limitation is worth stating in the terms rather than the small print, because competing products routinely misrepresent it: an Instagram export is a snapshot of one moment, not a history. A single export cannot tell you who unfollowed you, and any tool claiming otherwise from one upload is inventing names. Follow Crab finds unfollowers by comparing two exports over time, which means your first upload establishes a baseline and the answer arrives on your second one.

3. What you need to bring, and what you promise

The tool needs your own official Instagram data export โ€” the ZIP you request from Instagram through "Download your information". Our export guide walks through it.

By using Follow Crab you confirm that the export you upload is yours, from an account you control. Do not upload another person's export. We have no way to detect it โ€” nothing is transmitted to us, so nothing can be checked โ€” which means this one is genuinely on you.

You also agree not to use Follow Crab to break the law, and not to attempt to resell or redistribute the paid features.

4. What we do not warrant

Follow Crab is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.

The specific thing we cannot warrant, and want to name rather than bury: the export format belongs to Instagram, and Instagram can change it at any time, without notice. Follow Crab reads files whose names and structure Meta controls. When those change, the tool can produce incomplete results or stop reading an export until it is updated. We watch for this and fix it, but we cannot promise it will never happen, and we are not able to prevent it.

Related, and equally outside our control: an export made with a limited date range is truncated by Instagram, not by us. The tool detects this where it can and warns you rather than reporting a wrong number, but the fix is to request a complete export.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Instagram or Meta in any way.

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for anything arising out of Follow Crab is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim โ€” which for most users is zero, and for everyone else is the price of a one-time unlock. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, and nothing here affects the mandatory consumer rights you have in your own country.

5. Paid features and refunds

The core of Follow Crab is free. Some features are one-time purchases. There is no subscription, and nothing renews.

On the web

Polar is the merchant of record for purchases made on followcrab.com. That means your contract of sale for that purchase is with Polar, they handle the payment and the receipt, and refunds are processed by them. Write to support@followcrab.com and we will help you get one โ€” we would rather refund you than have you feel misled. Polar's terms: polar.sh/legal/terms.

One practical warning, because it is the most likely way a paying user loses access: a web purchase is remembered in your browser's local storage, not in an account. Clearing your browsing data for this site clears it too, and using a different browser or device means it is not there. Keep your receipt email โ€” it is the proof, and we can restore access from it.

In the iPhone app

Apple handles all in-app purchases, and refunds for them are requested from Apple directly, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue a refund for an App Store purchase โ€” Apple does not give developers that ability. If Apple declines and you believe you have a fair case, write to us anyway and we will see what we can do.

Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, so Restore Purchases in the app's Settings brings them back on a new device.

6. Your data

We do not collect it. The Privacy Policy is the long version, and it describes mechanisms rather than promises. The short version: your export is read on your own device, we have no account system, we run no analytics, and there is no copy of your data anywhere but your device.

What you create with Follow Crab โ€” your results, your share card, your CSV export โ€” is yours.

7. Changes, and ending

These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use Follow Crab after that means accepting the new version.

You can stop using Follow Crab at any time โ€” delete the app, or clear the site's data in your browser. There is no account to close and nothing to cancel.

We may discontinue the service. If that happens, features you already purchased keep working on the device where you purchased them, because they do not depend on a server.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

If you are a consumer resident in the EU, the EEA, the UK or anywhere else with mandatory consumer protection law, this does not deprive you of the protections of your own country's law, including your right to bring proceedings in your local courts. Where those rules conflict with anything above, they win.
